What is the Wings for Life World Run?
The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global event for both runners/walkers and wheelchair participants.
Instead of a finish line, competitors participate side by side across the world all at the same time to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car.
YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE WORLDWIDE RUN – ANYWHERE – EVEN IN YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD!
Meet up with your friends or plan to do it alone, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people participating across the world, until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course.
Now in its 11th year, on May 5, 2024, Wings for Life World Run participants in United States can also run together in the City of Sunrise.
I will be there ... even though I have not been running, I can lace up and walk/run/jog for those who can't … yet!
I do it for those I don’t know, and those like Jessika and Ray, who are Sunrise residents and who navigate in wheelchairs every day and everyplace they go … for now.
Interesting Fact: 5 years ago, during a Wings for Life run in Sunrise, I had the honor of officiating their wedding.
Now, this is their 5th Anniversary on May 5th!!!!!

There will be 2 routes available.
Loop 1 will be marked the "Friendly" route for casual participants.
Loop 2 will be marked the "Competitive" route for participants looking to crush their goals!
The race starts at exactly 7:00:00 AM E.S.T (all over the world!)

The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.
Wheelchair participants?
Wheelchair participants and runners start side by side at this track. The only requirement: wheelchair participants have to start in everyday wheelchairs.
Refreshment Stations?
Yes, this track has a refreshment station! You will find the following on site: they will have Red Bull, water and light snacks on site.
Timing and race number
You will receive your personal race number via email and it’s also available next to your starting number on the website a couple of days before the race. The Wings for Life World Run App is your time tracking tool. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start and as soon as it overtakes you, you will get clear signals via the App. Please make sure to have a fully charged phone on race day.

In order to join this App Run Event, please download the Wings for Life World Run App for Android or iPhone and sign up for race day in the App. To be part of the Wings for Life World Run on May 5, 2024 a registration fee will be charged; 100% of your fee go to spinal cord research. After you completed your registration for race day, you can join this App Run Event.
